I have been using an excellent quality coloured gloss finish. I need about half a mug of matt. How can I 'flatten' the gloss to matt or eggshell?

I dont think you can can you?? They are different bases!

Surely not - they are both oil based. I'm not trying to 'make' an emulsion paint! I know it can be done as I did it myself about 40 years ago - can't remember how though, only the other way - matt to gloss!

People have been known to do it by mixing in talcum powder.

Thanks for trying. The builder's merchant also suggested this but it didn't work - the wretched stuff is as glossy as ever! Tried various quantities. I've given up!
