Cistern follow up question - silicone curing time

I'd be grateful for some guidance on silicone curing time.

I have a 35mm chrome flush pipe going up into a stub at the bottom of a syphon, that is designed for a wider pipe. Union nut, hard washer and rubber washer are supplemented with silicone, on the washers and (copiously) inside the union nut.

Normally I'd leave silicone a day to go off before getting it wet. However, should I leave this lot longer before refilling the cistern, because it isn't exposed to the air? I'm thinking that it takes a while to go off inside the nozzle of the tube it comes in ...
