We are planning to relocate our stairs as current location is very awkward. New location will be parallel to joists so should be much of an issue. Current stairwell, 2 up 2 down house, is between two bedrooms with no supporting walls underneath. It seems there are two angle beams on which the bedroom floors and walls rest. Stairs landing has a metal header joist/angle beam which is welded to these two beams on either side. Once the stairs are relocated we need to close this stairwell. We can't use joist hanger as it is angle beam on both sides? How do we close the stairwell to have a walkable floor?
I will see if i Can put some pictures later on.
