Hello,

Can anyone help? The radiator in the smallest bedroom does not work. It has been bled, new valve, cleaned, flushed, checked for a blockage in the pipe going into the floor. Nothing is wrong it would seem. We did get the bottom of the rad to warm up for a few seconds after we turned all the other rads off upstairs but as soon as we turned them back on it went cold again. We have tried the same thing since and it didn't work.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Helen

Hello Helen
If you read the section in the FAQ's about balancing radiators, that will likely cure your problem.
In real life, most radiators only need to be on about one turn of the lockshield valve - thats the valve that has the blanking cap on (or should have) on each radiator.

Thank you for the reply,

I will have a look at that. Hopefully it will cure the problem.

I hope so - all radiators in the house will need to be balanced though - not just the upstairs ones. Water will take the route of least resistance as it is pumped around the heating circuit, so it could be happily bypassing the small radiator that you mention.
John :)
