colour confusion ..

Hi can anyone help? I am changing the light fitting in my bathroom , and I have old wiring. So there are four black, four red, 1 brown and 1 blue. How do I connect a normal blue, brown, green light fitting?

In theory at least one of the blacks (or possibly the blue) should be separate from the rest - if you've already disconnected everything and now don't know where things were, you're going to find it a bit tricky.

Have a read through the wiki at //www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:lighting, particularly //www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:rose - it should tell you all you need to know...

And if there are no green/yellows in your rose and your light requires an earth you must not fit it,
