Hi. I hope somebody can help me.

We have a Vaillant 242E combi boiler.

We recently decorated one of the bedrooms and had to remove 2 radiators in order to paint behind it. When fitting them back, we did not realise that we have to let air from the radiators. We noticed that, not only did the two radiators not work, but our boiler also started to make new noises and occasionally failed to ignite.

After then realising that we have to let the air from the system, we let air from the radiators last night, but then soon after the boiler completely failed to ignite.

Can anybody please give help and advise on how to fix this problem?

Check the pressure gauge it will be showing near zero, just refill the system, to 1.5 bar, useing the filling loop, bobs your uncle :D

Thank you Bob. I suppose that the boiler manual will provide some info on the filling loop etc. Is it usually located on the boiler itself?

your filling loop will not look like FAQ no6. its an integeral filling loop,
if you look under the boiler you will see two valves with black handles, open both valves, you will hear water entering the system, fill until 1.5 bar pressure, then make sure both valves are turned off, with no water entering the system.

Hi Bob
You are quite right, my filling loop looks nothing like the one in FAQ 6.
However, I can also not find the two valves with black handles. I have spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out where this filling loop is, but I am afraid I am none the wiser. The manual isn't helping much either, cause it says to open the filling valve, but it gives NO indication whatsoever as to where the filling valve is! I have searched this website and all forums, but I can not figure out which valves to open.
The boiler is a Vaillant Turbomax VUW 242 E.
I am desperate for help!

Hi All
Thanks for your replies and help.
I have just found the damn loop.
Was not under the boiler (as in directly under it), but was located close to the floor in a kitchen cupboard halfway hidden behind the washing machine!!!!
Just glad I found it!

I dont remember any integral filling loop on a 242 ?

Tony
