Hello.

Since last night my boiler makes a nice grinding noise when hot water or heating is first called for.

From cold the heating control is turned on and the boiler will act and found normal for the first minute or so.

Then a grinding noise that's rather loud takes over for the next 5 mins or so.

I've stuck my head in and am sure the sound is coming from the pump.

Hot water still works and central heating still fine.

After about 5 mins or so it quietens back down to normal operating sound.

I treated my boiler to a brand new pump about 6 months ago and all had been fine until last night.

Boiler is a vaillant turbomax pro 24e.

Last serviced autumn 2011.

Do I have a faulty pump?

Cheers

Hi Flosscat,

Has this problem been resolved for you yet? To me it sounds like the pump but because it's already been replaced I'd say you should call out a local engineer to investigate the problem further before buying a new pump.

Good luck!!
