Hi

We have flower bed approx 6ft by 12 ft. (20 cm deep) When I put those dimensions into an online calculator, it spat out 1347 litres. (33*40L bags) That can’t be right, can if?

Thanks

Are there no bulk compost makers in your area that recycle organic material and will load your trailer or even deliver.
We have several around us and believe some councils may do it as well.. They also give a chemical analysis of the nutrients.

Thanks for that intel. What’s the situation on manure coverage?

Manure rots down fairly quickly. In about 6 months time you will have to top it up. Fairly fresh manure might be too rich/strong for the plants and burn them.

You can always fill in the bottom of the bed with a layer of rocks and pebbles, then use a lower grade of heavier soil before topping up the level with a quality grade of topsoil. Mix in some wood chips and stones to help bulk out the soil and improve drainage.
