Does anyone know how to work out the correct distance from the edge of a door you drill the hole for a 35mm concealed hinge?

Also how you work out how far in the hinge plate goes on the cabinet wall?

I ahve only suceeded by trial and error so far, there must be a way of doing it correctly.

The easiest way is to take a door off a kitchen unit and measure the distances you require. You can then make a little template with a small square of ply or MDF that will contact the top of the door or inside of the unit and drill the required holes into it . Add a stop lat to the template to butt up to the edge of the carcase or door and you will get a perfect result every time.
