Connecting Male to Female Copper pipe fittings

Hi,

Probably a very simple answer, but it is causding some frustration.

Am trying to fit a male to female hreaded pipe and have some PTFE tape and Fernox Water Hawk jointing compound on it before tightenting, but still get some water leaks!! undewr pressure.

Am wondering, does this set hard and should I have left it until it sets hard and thenw ill it be o.k? - or am I missing something obvious!!.

Any useful response would be greatly appreciated!

Try just wrapping 10 turns of ptfe on the male thread and not using the Fernox.

You are supposed to use one or the other.
