Connecting new sink and tap

Hello all,

I have never done any plumbing work previously, so please be gentle!

I have fitted a new sink and tap in my kitchen, but I am having a nightmare connecting them to the existing pipework. I believe that the tap has two flexible connectors each with a 15mm female end. My existing pipework is as follows:
• Cold: 12mm male connector
• Hot: Gate valve with 1/4 inch female connector

Any guidance would be much appreciated, please.
