conservatory heating

It says in its spec that it generates 3 KW in heating mode so that should suit your needs if it does , please come back and let us know how you got on , as said I have worked on much larger units which failed to deliver but if this can then it is an easy sell and a great product, the cooling cycle should work as the cooling engine would easily fit into that unit

The second unit is known as a "Window unit" or Window rattler" and is self contained, just slot it into the hole and plug in, they work well, I had 5 of them in my villa in Dubai years ago.... You learn to live with the noise they make..... Split units are quieter but do need more specialised gear to install though there are some splits with quick connectors... The cost of the unit in my picture was about £1400 fitted but that was some years ago... It is still working perfectly..

Always remember that in the Winter a 3kW air source output can fall dramatically so a 3kW unit won't give you 3kW when it gets cold outside...

Uou may be better off simply fitting a fan coil to heat your conservatory, blown air always works better in them than radiators.. http://www.smiths-env.com/products_view.asp?productid=6

When I worked in Qatar we had two very noisy Toshiba window units and a larger and much quieter US window unit.

We normally lived with just the US one operating 24 hrs per day in the living room and kept all internal doors open to enable the temperature to equalise.

Its main purpose was to reduce the humidity but it took about 10 C -15 C off the outside temperature during the day. It was the lower humidity which gave the comfort. That was cooling only. In winter switched off as it could get below 10 C during the night.

A well insulated UK house needs about 100W per m2 but a typical conservatory with single glazing might need up to ten times that !

Always found that my Carrier units were noisier than my neighbours Sanyos and I ran them all as the villa was quite spread out....I found the noise quite relaxing after a week or so and ad little trouble sleeping...

I do think I will probably go for that unit the only things making me think twice is having to cut a dirty great 500 x 300mm hole in the wall and also if it's noisy.
The description says quiet operation but what does that mean I can't find is actual noise level in db anywhere
