I've just bought new dual fuel cooker but there is no cooker socket in my house. I can fit a socket box - question is, do I run 4mm cable straight to meter cupboard - and if so, what next? Is it time to call a spark or is it DIYable??

Probably easier to get a spark in.

Any work in your kitchen is notifiable under Part P. If you do it yourself you'll have to notify the LABC in advance and pay for them to come and inspect it. An electrician registered under one of the competent person schemes (NAPIT etc.) can sign off his own work.
