Cooker thermostat

Hi,

Just been asked to take a look at a neighbours Electric oven. Temperature goes one way... UP. Suspect the thermostat is gone. before I order the spare part at £55.00 does anyone have any reasons why it would not be the thermostat?
It is a TEKA Model H1595.
Everything else on the oven works fine.
