Hi,

I have a Corvec Britony water heater in a flat I have just purchased, I am currently trying to decide how to heat the property. There are a number of old storage heaters dotted around the place but these look like they have been there since the year dot. The property is a top floor flat, 2 bedrooms, lounge, bathroom and kitchen.

One option is to replace them with newer ones or possibly consider going for central heating but I guess this would mean upgrading the system to a combi boiler?. Could someone tell me if this Corvec Britony water heater is still in circulation and whether parts are still readily available and whether they are reliable. If I am just waiting for it to break down and then be told it cannot be fixed I will just opt for update now as the place needs full re-decoratin. Alternatively would it be possibly for the Corvec water heater supply some rads?

Could anyone recommed the best option to go for either storage or central heating.

If you can afford it I'd go for a new combi and radiator system. The Corvec's pretty old and although there's not much to go wrong you can't expect to get many more years out of it.

Thanks chris for the reply, could you tell me approximately how old this water heater is likely to be or when they stopped making/installing this type in domestic properties?

About 30 years old but if you get a spare diaphragm and wax stat you should squeeze afew more years out of it if you want to.
