Couple of tiling queries regarding travertine tiles

What about those highly polished travertine tiles? Do they need sealing as well? I get the feeling that some tile shops like T***s Tiles will convince you to buy everything whether you need it or not.
Travertine comes in different guises, polished, honed, filled, unfilled; polished will generally not be as porous as honed & unfilled will be full of holes, not ideal for many installations. Test the tiles for absorption; how absorbent they are depends on the type & quality of the travertine & how important sealing is will depend on installation & what sort of environment the tiles will live in. If in doubt, seal or you could end up feeling very sorry for yourself with nasty stains from using the wrong colour adhesive/grout or making a mess of it; muddy, gritty boots, cooking fat & red wine are definitely not advisable either.

I have now ordered the addy and 2L or Lithofin - bloomin' expensive stuff! But then better than buying cheap and wrecking the tiles!

Thanks all.
