Is it best to stick coving up on new plaster or mist coat the plaster first?

I have misted first. It stops the adhesive drying out too quickly and becoming a crumbly mess! :)

When I did our coving on new plaster, I marked a pencil line where the low edge would be, then using a small cross-pein hammer, made indents in the plaster to give the adhesive a better key. They added small round nails along the line, to give the coving support until it set up. Rather than adhesive, I used Thistle - because I had some and yes, I misted.
