Hi, I live in a 2-bed victorian mid terrace with the stairs going up the centre of the house ( relevant?!) and am looking to switch the entrance to the cupboard under the stairs from the back room to the front room. The new entrance will be directly opposite where the old entrance is and both are full size doors. Directly above the proposed new entrance is the doorway to the bedroom.

I was going to cut into the brickwork and cement a psl in place, commence the bashing of bricks, put in the door frame then start filling in the old doorway.

Based on the above info, am I likely to encounter death ?
I'm terrified (cash) to ask a structural engineer for what appears to be a straightforward job.

Youll need to temporary prop and add a lintel before you open up the brickwork for the new door. Walls next to stairwells tend to be loadbearing so may need a slightly more meaty lintel, concrete ones are cheapest.
