Hi folks, how is everyone?

I've had a slight nightmare with a curtain pole that spans a bay window. I knew it would be a nightmare because in order to allow the curtains to open and close fully I could only attach 3 brackets - one in the middle and 2 at either side. To make matters worse the ceiling is weak plasterboard.

Well I came home the other day and one side of the pole had dislodged itself from the ceiling despite me using the plasterboard screws that open up when you tighten them (see image)

kind of like this one.

I now have whopping great holes where the screws have come out and have no idea what to do to sort the problem.

Can any of you DIY heroes impart some of your knowledge? :)

If you can locate joists in suitable positions for your brackets, consider fixing to those instead.

If you can conveniently get access from the floor above, fix wooden noggins between the joists and fix the brackets to these. This may involve a fair amount of work, but you'll be more secure in knowing that your curtains are in less danger of falling down.

Guys,

Thanks for the reply's. I'm going to go with the attaching wooden supports to the joists to make sure these things never come out again.

I appreciate your help.
