Hi all,
We have a Victorian terrace where we have 2 damp walls around a chimney breast that has been opened (we planned on using it for storage). We thought the bathroom behind iy was leaking but we ahave since ripped that out and can't find a culprit. When there is heavy rain, we do get some drips down. When we had the fascias done, my father in law had a brief look and didn't think there was much wrong with the chimney, though it doesn't look like it has been capped. There is a crack you can see on the chimney, though our roofer doesn't think that would cause a big enough leak. He thinks it might be that it has been sealed without ventilation causing damp though you would think if water can get in, steam can get out. The walls of the room above are bone dry. I don't know that we have any dpc down. Does anyone know how we can work out what's wrong? Thanks in advance!
