Apologises if this is in the wrong section.

I have lived in my house for 7 years and with all of the bad weather we have had recently we have noticed a couple of damp patches on the front bedroom wall. They are in three spots and, through some investigation, it looks as though moisture is creeping in under some lead flashing above the front window. The front of the house is getting a bit of a battering with the constant rain.

I am wondering what I need to do in order to get this fixed? I assume the mortar has failed and needs repointing? Is it likely that the whole front of the house needs doing or just the areas affected? Would a general builder be able to assist or do I need experts?

Thanks in advance.

If the mortar joint has failed at the flashing, this could be down to expansion and contraction of the lead over the years, leading to the mortar becoming less stable. Does not necessarily mean the rest needs pointing as it will not be affected by the lead expanding/contracting.
But I would replace existing pointing at lead with a flexible sealant such as leadmate.

Thanks PrenticeBoyofDerry, this is really helpful and doesn't sound too serious as I first thought.
