Damp proofing single brick Victorian coal shed

have you tried the electricity distributor?

is it a metal armour or a sort of cloth bandage?

Found out its not actually a gas pipe, not sure what it is though. Need to get someone out so we can get rid of it. There is a hole in the ceiling at the end of the shed that has a metal disc on top of it, that's underneath the tiles of the above walk way, water is coming in there when it rains. Whats the best way to seal a hole like that off?

well to me, it still looks like the steel wound-on armour of an old electricity cable. It does rust very badly when old. I don't recognise that yellowish coating though.

Where it has fallen away, can you see a grey metal (lead) coating, about as thick as your thumb?

Any sign of a layer of black bitumen?
