Hi I`m a total novice DIYer and I'm going to try and lay my 1st laminate floor in the sitting room. I've checked out a few videos and stuff on it and alot of them say you should start from the left, laying away the largest window is this really the best way to start off?

Also in my lounge i`ve got 2 windows 1 large and 1 smaller on different walls the smaller window is in a 4in recess 3/4 of the way along the wall where i'd probably be starting on how would i tackle this?

We would, typically, start at the longest wall, or some times at the longest clear run.
Running to or from the light, isn't that important with laminate.

Going into a window or bay or closet recess is, roughly, similar to running into a door threshold - there are plenty of youtube videos on this.

Perhaps, scan a floor plan on here.
