Decking Newel Post spacing

Hi

I need to replace my split handrail in the garden decked area and replace some of the newels supporting the handrail.

It is a homemade construction that i have inherited but would use the opportunity to replace with nice turned newels.

The sides are approx 1150mm x 4850mm x 3750mm, the longest edge has 5 newels.

What is the maximum spacing permitted between newels? Would i need to replace all 5 or could i use 2 or 3?

i would say 1150-1250 centres will be right the spacings will appear the same and give support around every 4ft/1220mm
so 2 4 and 5 suspect exactly as it is
