I want to fix some ground level decking to the back of the house. The base is cracked and broken concrete slabs which I will even up with pea shingle or sand (OK ?). Then rest the supports on that and fix to a free standing garden wall and to the house wall. Can I screw the wooden supports into the wall below the damp proof or is that a problem ?

I also may need a cheap roof cover. It is about 3 metres by 3 metres and covered in old fence posts which obviously let in the rain. Very authentic hillbilly hut, which I like, but damp. I am thinking of tarpaulin....... I may also buy a banjo.

Any advice on the damp proof Thanks
