Hello
When fitting ELV 12volt spotlights with 'dimmable transformers' do you still need a special type of DIMMER SWITCH or do normal DIMMER SWITCHES still work ??
A certain well known supplier lists 'dimmer switches' and LV dimmer swithches. doesn't LV include 240v ? ..... confused.
Basically I have to fit a 4 gang dimmer switch with 3 x 12volt spot circuits with 'dimmable' transformers + centre light and was just trying to make sure it would work , when the switch is £30 !
Thankyou Steve

If you have dimmable transformers, then a standard dimmer switch will be fine.

The 'LV' dimmers will probably be inductive dimmers designed for use with the older style torroidal wire wound transformers.

But you are right. LV strictly speaking, encompasses 230V.

They should have said SELV... ;)
