hi
do you need the room temp switch on the wall for the ch.

if you have the adjuster on the rads dont no with it is called.

just because the leaver on the 3way valve only moves very little if at all when the motor turns the leaver is loose.
but when i took the wires off the leaver went stiff. so just think if it mite be the room temp

The switch on the wall is the room stat, which regulates the room temp. The Thermostatic radiator valves ( TRV's ) control the rad temp, but in an on-off control, they won't keep radiators at a 'perfect' warm temperature, as some people seem to think. The motorised valve turns at around 90 degrees open/closed, and will go loose when it is in the open position. When the power supply is off, then the motorised valve returns to the closed position the room/cylinder stat if you have them, and the programmer. Dependent on the various temperature / time parameters, the valve will open and close. If you didn't have the room stat on the wall, then the boiler would utilise its own stat to control the temperature of the house, and you would probably find that it would be a lot warmer !

Don't know if this helps you or not. :)
