As for RR - given who owns them and how much money they invested in the new factory, I doubt that any fettling at all is needed, let alone lead-loading.

Indeed BAS. At the time of my visit, the then owner, VW, had invested several millions in the visitor centre, and many more in the factory. From Wikipedia "Having been heavily under-invested for some time, Volkswagen Group invested £500M in the two years after its takeover of the Crewe plant.". All the RR staff we spoke to were very positive about the German ownership, rather than being run by UK bean counters. Until VW came along, visitors (including potential customers) had to park in a patch of loose gravel and walk through puddles to a corrugated iron reception shed! Hardly the way to sell £1/4M cars.

I don't think that VW look back on their period of ownership of RR, or the expenses they incurred, with much pride. They were outmanœuvred like a kipper by Vickers and BMW.

Can the Volkswagen Group have any pride? they are know for their cheating and underhand methods.

They have the misfortune to have been the first ones to get caught.

Ask yourself - have you ever believed any official fuel consumption figures from any manufacturer?

The amount of fuel burned and the amount of combustion products emitted are closely related, so if nobody's consumption figures are realistic, then.....
