Door opening into a corridor

If it's entirely within your own dwelling, then yes - unless it opens across the top of the stairs.
If it's a flat, and the door opens into a communal corridor, that's a different matter.
 
Are surveyors or building control likely to have an issue with it opening into corridor ?

It's not a problem or a building control issue. In fact it's a requirement on escape routes.
