hi
we live in an old country house on the edge of Surrey http://www.churt-pc.gov.uk/ and there has always been a problem with the kitchen being cold. no matter how many times i've had someone in to look at it, the radiator never heats up the kitchen fully. so, i've been thinking about installing a double radiator, http://www.twenga.co.uk/dir-Garden-DIY,Home-heating,Radiators-0236278 we dont have any in our house at the moment but is it the most obvious thing to do, or is there something more obvious? i dont know what the problem is, the pipes etc have all been checked and the living room next door doesnt have the same problem.

Does the kitchin radiator get as hot as the others?
If it does and the kitchin isnt hot enough then the radiator isnt large enough and a larger one will of course give you more heat.
If it doesnt get as hot as the others then you have a localised circulation problem and putting a larger radiator may not help.
Why not get a recomended heating engineer in to calculate the radiator size required for the room?

If the radiator is not as hot as others around the house then it may just be a case of balancing the system, but it should be checked to confirm if the existing radiator has been sized correctly. :)
