Hi, Over the last few weeks we have had what we thought were irregular power cuts. Two spot light GU10's (i think, can check) 50w bulbs blew last week which I replaced. All ok since, then last night about 12.00am the fuse box tripped and I couldn't get anything to come back on. I noticed next doors outside light on so knew it wasn't power cut. I tried the individual MCB's one at a time and the only one that wont come back on without tripping the entire unit is the downstairs lighting circuit. I disconnected the kitchen light switch and spotlights (one at a time) and retested the MCB but still no joy.
Are there any checks I can do to pin point where the problem lies ?
Could the recent damp weather have penetrated my external light at all ?

Any suggestions before I look up the local sparky would be appreciated.

yes the damp gets into outside lights.. could also be any number of things..
melted cable where it touches the downlighter you replaced, rodent gnawing on a cable, anything..
