Downstairs Radiators suddenly stopped working

Help .....

My downstairs radiators suddenly decided to pack in this evening.

Have an open system with an Ideal RS250 boiler.

Upstairs is all fine, hot water is all fine ... pump seems OK .. have bled all radiators and pump to no avail.

Sytem has never been properly balanced since I moved in and have always had to bleed one of the downstairs rads to get it going downstairs. Went to do that but no air ... thought i'll check the rest of the downstairs rads ... all no air ... apart from one which appears to have no water!!

Am I blocked

turn off both valves remove the bleed screw and stick a pin in the hole

Did as you suggested ..tiny two second puff of air, replaced screw, valves open .. radiators all suddenly working again .... but why??? I don't understand!

dont try it with the valves open tho
