Drain overflowing

Have to beg to differ, no sewer I know of will cope with wipes, they are the Devil's work when it comes to drains. (Although they do keep some of us in a living.)

Some wipes have now been designated 'Fine to flush' as they will break down in the system, anything that isn't marked as such needs to go straight in the bin!

you are probably correct. One of my previous partners was Russian, and she similarly chucked all sorts down the toilet and drains. There is a lot of apartment living with big municpal buildings abroad and I think maybe they have in house plumbers paid for by the whole place so nobody really follows it. good argument why with socialised facilities, because nobody fully owns it, everyone trashes it.

when it’s your own place with your own costs, it makes you responsible.

another point is I’ve found my foreign partners don’t understand about heating, draughts etc. They just open a window and keep it on full blast. Again, apartment culture - if you pay 1/100th of the bill, you can’t trust others aren’t abusing it so you don’t really care.
