Outside my kitchen door I have a large drainage gully into which flows the outflow from the kitchen sink and appliances, and also the guttering. These drain free into the gutter (if that makes sense). Alongside are the waste pipe from the toilet and the air pipe, which are concreted in and go down into the ground. Surrounding all of this is a low brick wall about 2 courses high, all covered by a wooden cover.

My problem is that it's a real mess, all the concrete is coming apart and there is basically just rubble surrounding the pipes. I'd quite like to dig it out a bit and do a proper job of concretng so it is smooth and neat. It's just horrible at the moment. Is there any reason why I can't just get rid of the brick wall an concrete over smoothly all around the gully?

thanks

Change the gulley grating for a plastic version, extend waste pipe(s) so to discharge below the grid. Chop out existing damaged concrete, if need be fit a gulley surround and make good. (Bench inside of new gulley surround as required.)

As long as the water goes into the gulley and doesn't splash about making the wall damp it should be fine. :D
