I have just bought a house with single glazing all round. I have noticed many draughts coming from the windows and doors also. Id it possible to scrape out most of the old putty, and re-seal the internal sides of the windows, with either new putty, or some other kind of sealant. Also what is the best way to seal around doors. The externals are wood, as are the internals. I was just going to buy draught excluders for the internal doors.
Sorry if this is a little basic, but Im a bit new to all this, and the heat from the central heating keeps escaping through these draughts.

Is the windows made of wood and do you know how old is it ?

Yes the window frames are wood, as are all the door frames. The house is approx 100 Yrs old. I just want to get rid of the draughts

Only if you think the draught is coming thru' the glass.

There are many type of draught excluders or you could fit secondary glazing for windows. Are you also saying draught coming thru' the internal doors?
