Drawing plans software - Free

Is there any simple and free software packages that are easy to use to prepare some drawings with

I have tried sketchup but do not find it simple nor intuitive


(please move if this is in the wrong place but it is a q regarding planning drawings)

If you don't find sketchup easy or intuitive you're best of with a pencil and ruler.

Plans are generally 2D, sketchup is generally 3D.. As a tool to draw in 3D sketchup is excellent, but it won't make a lot of sense to start with, especially if you're expecting it to work like a 2D drawing program. Try the tutorial video series on YouTube?

try Autodesk Homestyler, then click on 'Try the new floor plan Beta'... it is brilliant
