Can someone please help? We have had a Drayton Mid Position Actuator fitted but we seem to have heating all the time! The hot water is fine - it seems to talk to the programmer for that but not for the heating... I am having to control the heating through the thermastat but it means that the heating is on constantly through the night! We are using way too much gas due to this....

If anyone can help me, I would be so grateful!

Thanks

The programmer/stats talk to the valve not the other way round. So check time/temp controls are ok. If you've just had a new actuator, you may find the valve body is faulty and passing. This should be checked before making the repair.

Is there any way we can check the valve body without having an engineer out again?

You say the actuator for the motorised valve is new ?? Check that the black arm at the top of the valve is out and moves freely between heat & hot water modes.

remove the actuator by pressing in the black button on the side and lifting the actuator.
and move the brass spindle on the valve.

the manual arm will not move...

pop your finger or thumb underneath the black arm and see if you can lift it out of the midpositon its stuck in or as stated above depress the black button on the side of the head and take the actuator off the valve body and check the body isn' t stuck.

thanks all! will try these tomorrow when it is daylight..... will let you know how it goes!
