Hi,

I wondered if someone can help/advice.

We have recently had our driveway paved. The builder dug 2 deep holes either side at the front to enable the drainpipes to run into soakaways. The left drainpipe is fine, but the right has been put through the bottom front wall - level with the pavement. When I asked about this he said he couldn't get the angle of the pipe into the soak away and said it had to be done this way, that it was absolutely fine. My concern is that we could be fined by the council, as the rainwater from the pipe will be going onto the pavement. Is there legislation against this?

I have tried researching on the net but not getting very far, so any help would be great!!

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are in breach of planning laws: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/pavingfrontgarden/

You won't be fined but if planning find out they will ask you to make a retrospective planning application, which if if applied for would very likely be rejected. You are possibly also risking litigation if rainwater from your driveway drained onto the pavement and then froze and then someone slipped over.

Your builder is a Muppet (Beauregard before anyone asks).
