Are these the gearboxes that have two clutches, usually wet clutches (like in motorcycles)?
If so (and TBH I think I already know the answer to this), is one of the clutches always operated, that is with springs compressed and clutch plates spinning in a bath of oil?

So when cruising down the motorway in top gear one clutch is always 'dragging' through its oil bath, causing power to be absorbed?
Thinking back to the days of bump starting my old (multiplate wet clutch) RD350, it was necessary to run with it in neutral to get some speed up before clonking it into 2nd gear before dropping the clutch, as the clutch drag would have been too much (if in any gear) to get up a decent speed.

And the DSG is the future for IC engined vehicles?
