EA122 vent leaks when closed

Hi everyone first post here.

I have an EA122 valve which leaks from the red cap despite the main body being turned to the closed position. I have read that you can open the top of these vents to clean them out but I can't seem to open mine. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome
