Earthing Copper Pipe

I couldn't find GN8 on the IET website, even though it was in the last Wiring Matters!!

It's been years since I did any domestic.

I used 6mm because that's what I had with me on the van

the water ensures a good earth in the small distance that may not be conducting through a compression joint..


we use a belt 'n' braces aproach at work..
we fit an earth bolt through the din rail of the control panel because the designer doesn't trust that the rail which is screwed on to the metal back plate with a tapped screw every 150mm will be earthed if we use the bolt the panel people don't put through the rail..
we also have to run a cable from this earth bolt to an earth bolt on the machine which is about 3 inches from the 6 mounting bolts that hold tha panel on....
