Hi Folks
Long time no yak - I've been to Crete for a week!
There have been many discussions here about problem earthing situations - here are the NIC's solutions to two of them:
When supp bonding in bathrooms, if a connection is sweated on to a pipe, there is no need to make allowance for access to the joint, as it is deemed permanent.
Plus, as it can be made out of sight, it makes for a neater job.
Second, the age-old dilemma "What to do if my lighting has no earth?"
Well, you don't HAVE to rewire. As long as a cpc is run in "close proximity" to the live, then this is deemed acceptable.
This has been taken from the NIC book "snags & solutions- earthing and bonding" out now 15 quid, niceic.org.uk.
Have to acknowledge my source, you understand!
