I have just replaced my emersion tank and had to drain the system, everything seems ok until I switched the boiler on ?

Started up no problem and lasted about 5-6 seconds and then went off.

The pilot light was out, and now when I re-ignight it, it will not stay lit, have I damaged the thermo coupling in any way ... any thoughts ...Chas

Many thanks kevplum, what is the solution to that, if you don't mind me asking ... Chas

look at the gas valve you will see the mains wiring if there are two other wires near where the thermocouple goes follow them to the stat there is usually a small button between the terminals :)
press button :)

You will need to bleed all the air oput that you can. There could well be an air bleed point by the cylinder on the boiler pipes?

Sorry Kev to bombad you with all this but I have the boiler cover off, and their is no small button between the terminals ...

It is an old system ... Ideal Elan RS55

Yes 2 yellow/cream ones...

1 is conected to a a blue plastic plate on the thermo and the other runs into the back of were I press the gas, and bothe then run upto the top right hand corner of the system and into a 3x2in grey metal box ... Chas

Kev their is no button on it though, many thanks for your time and effort, much appreciated ... Chas
