Could you please help?
What the legal requirement, if any, on distance between the hob and electrical points (Switches and Sockets) above it is please? This is for a new hob and new points in an extended kitchen.

No legal requirement. 300mm horizontally is an accepted minimum.

You don't want them above at all, as this will result in people leaning over the hot surface to operate the switch, or kettle flexes burning nicely as they trail across the hob.
 
I have to wonder, does the same distance apply for a cooker control panel / switch? In a kitchen where the hob is mounted in the worktop above the cooker / all in one cooker?
