Very helpful folks thanks. I'm planning on getting 6 spotlights in the ceiling. In terms of the switch I'm getting one of these switches. Silly question but would I need more than one if I ha 6 lights.

I would stay well away from that. You only need a single switch as you would switch them all on together, but that cheap china carp won't last/might blow up and kill you.

Cheers I will stay well clear then. And in terms of removing the sockets is that a big job? Im I imagine its the case of a spark removing it and then covering it with a face plate?

Personally I would remove the wiring altogether -
That may mean an MF junction under the floor

Am I also right to assume that moving a shaver point and adding an electric shower are notifiable?

They are, and so is installing a bathroom where there wasn't one before.

Not notifiable, in any case, if outside the zones.
