Hi,
I have just had an oil heating system fitted which is a 36KW Grant Vortex Blue Combi with built in 25L expansion tank. I am trying to work out if I need an additional expansion tank (I have an additional 25L BOSS vessel that I could use if necessary).
I have quite a large bungalow and have done a very basic calculation that assumes the heating system water will expand by 3% etc. I have used the following figures.
Total Radiator Capacity: 20 x 10L = 200L
Total Pipework Capacity: 57L
The pipework is mainly 22mm which is why the above figure is so large.
From my very basic calculation, I calculated 3% of 257L and got 7.71L.
Is this a reasonable way to do the calculation? If I am way off I would appreciate a better way to calculate the figure?
Regards
