Okay, my friends have just moved into a rented accomodation, where the landlord and estate agent are saying there is no contractual obligation to provide a working telephone line.
There external telephone cable and `cable` tv have been ripped out and are lying at the front of their house.
Now I have a fair idea of what to do - but want to run this past you guys first if i may.

The cable outside has 4 ends on it, orange, orange and white, blue and blue and white - as in the TOP picture above - so 2 pair?
Do I simply buy something like this for the outside connection:

and a reel of the same 2 pair telephone cable and connect them together? Or is there something more complex to do? This is only for broadband and standard use.
I will also be having to fit a new socket inside... as the builders helpfully decided not to do that - so I would assume this would be suitable:

Does reverse latching have any significance? Or can I wire it up to the standard - http://web.ukonline.co.uk/freshwater/wiring/pictures/socketwire2.jpg
