Hi all,
Kitchen renovation project underway. There's a brick built flue coming out from one wall so it forms an alcove either side. It's currently 480mm wide but I need to build it out to around 540mm on one side as I'm planning to fit a work top coming out from it to form a breakfast bar. Breakfast bar will be sitting on a 500mm base unit with 18mm decor panels either side (hence the 536mm width requirement).
Whats the best way to widen the flue by 60mm ? Was planning to use 9.5mm plasterboard with simple timber studding. Not sure how to finish the external corners off... do i fit the timber flush to the existing face or do I cut a piece of plasterboard 60mm x 2350mm and join this to the return board with external tape ?
Whole kitchen is being skimmed in two weeks so I need to get this sorted.
