Advice Please
About to install a radial circuit for an extension.
The feed will come from a spare 30A plug in mcb from an old wylex cu and run in 4mm T&E.
There is currently no RCD protection on any of the circuits and my concern is that this new circuit will probably feed appliances outside, hence rcd protection is a must.
My options are to install a stand alone rcd fed from the spare fuse way then onto the circuit or to replace the complete cu for a split load type.
Any thoughts

Depends on your priorities/budget - off the top of my head ...

If you have time consider replacing the CU now.

If the extension is more urgent, buy an RCD and 2 mod enclosure. Then later replace Cu and re-ruse the RCD.

Obviously if you replace the CU now you could consider the RCBO route as well.

Main thing is the work you are doing now complies.

As expected,
Cheers
Ps Do you know if the local supply authourity charges for up grading the service fuse as it is only a 60A. A bit low or is this standard for a TN-S.
