In places like Home Depot, I see pre-poured concrete anchors with metal straps embedded to hold 4 x 4 posts. (They look like small pyramids)

I'd like to build a 6 ft high wood fence using 4 x 4 posts and wood panels.

Will these concrete anchors hold the post and the fence?

Any advice for setting the anchors in the hole?

Thanks,

I have used a similar idea to fix my fences. The short posts I used were concrete with holes for attaching a wooden post. I used lengths of threaded rod with a nut and washer at each end (cheaper than long bolts). Dig a hole and concrete the spur post in a similar way to concreting in a normal post. This method gives the look of a wooden post with the strength of concrete. They are actually sold as repair spurs to fix rotted wooden posts. My posts were 3x3 but I guess 4x4 would work OK depending on the size of the concrete posts you buy.
